“The Arbitrary Colourist” May 10, 2007 - June 6, 2007

Thad Matthew Morgan’s, first McKinney art exhibit debuts on May 12th, 2007 at a gallery reception at Carrie Garner’s Galleria d’Arte from 7pm to 10pm. A self-described modern Fauvist, Morgan’s paintings are indeed masterpieces of bold and vivid colors as he pays homage to the early 20th century Fauvist movement.

By exploring the symbolic use of form and movement, Morgan’s paintings are studies of energy and the innate ability of color to influence feelings, trigger emotions, and alter moods. “The pieces I produce capture a glimpse of a movement which is a device to aide the viewer to be engaged with the subject,” says Morgan. With the extensiveness of subjects, Morgan’s paintings appeal to a wide and eclectic audience.

November 10, 2007 – December 5, 2007

Celebrate this hauntingly magical time as Carrie Garner’s Galleria d’ Arte welcomes back artist extraordinaire and gallery friend, Kim Lanus for the second annual Los Dias de los Muertos celebration.

Ms. Lanus’ paintings are created on tin and wood in the old retablos and Italian style of painting. All pieces are sealed for longevity, and each piece is framed in the time-honored gothic European tradition. Ms. Lanus’ collectors include former ABC anchorman, Sam Donaldson and President George W. Bush.

Visit Ms. Lanus’ website at
www.kimmlanus.com

Los Dias de los Muertos, the Days of the Dead, is a traditional Mexican holiday honoring the dead. It is celebrated every year at the same time as Halloween and the Christian holy days of All Saints Day and All Souls Day. Los Dias de los Muertos is not a sad time, but instead a time of remembering and rejoicing.
